This tutorial aims to demonstrate fundamentals and usage of the diagenesis model available in ParaGeo. To that end the tutorial is split in the following parts:
1.Model overview page providing the equations defining the models and all the options available.
2.Model behaviour page demonstrates the effect of diagenesis on sediment properties and pore pressure, focusing on the more complex parameters such as the diagenesis flow rule and the compression factor.
3.Tutorial on calibration of a diagenesis law accountiong for non-mechanical porosity reduction, diagenetic hardening (change in pc) and sediment stiffening (change in pt) using published data for Kimmeridge Clay and Berea Sandstone. The data and approach demonstrated in this tutorial is also described in Obradors-Prats et al. (2019).
