Step02 Geometry Create

The present workflow step is similar as performed in Case01. Note the data present in the .inp file in order to apply the same element re-numbering to the Facies and I,J,K grids that is being applied to the elements in the mesh during geometry creation.

The data file for generation of the geometry is in: Geol_002b\Case02\02_Geometry_Create\Data. It consists on the Geol_002b_Case02_abaq.inp output during the Zmap import in the previous step as well as the spatial grid files Geol_002b_Case02_prop_Facies.spat and Geol_002b_Case02_prop_IJK.spat.

*SPATIAL_GRID, INPUT=Geol_002b_Case02_prop_Facies.spat, OUTPUT=Geol_002b_Case02_prop_Facies_ReNum

The ouput file name defined in PARAGEO FILE has been edited for convenience to "Geol_002b_Case02_geom".

Note the *SPATIAL_GRID keyword written at the end of the .inp file. The INPUT= command defines the .spat file created during Zmap import which contains the Spatial grid with the corresponding element properties. By including the spatial grid in the .inp file during geometry creation the re-numbering being applied to the mesh elements will also be applied to the elements defined in the Spatial_grid. The OUTPUT= command writes the new grid in a new file.

The rest of the data is not discussed here

The Geol_002b_Case02_abaq.inp is run in ParaGeo to perform the conversion and obtain the results.

Results

The results for the present workflow steps are provided in Geol_002b\Case02\02_Geometry_Create\Results

The key results comprise:

1.Geol_002b_Case02_geom.geo file containing the geometry and mesh in ParaGeo format

2.Geol_002b_Case02_geom.geometry containing the generated Group_data for the 10 formations and 26 Geometry_set data structures.

3.Geol_002b_Case02_prop_IJK_ReNum.spat containing the Spatial_grid with I, J, K values specified on element basis with the elements being re-numbered

4.Geol_002b_Case02_prop_Facies_ReNum.spat containing the Spatial_grid with Facies values specified on element basis with the elements being re-numbered

The differences in the Facies spatial grid before and after geometry creation (element renumbering) are highlighted in yellow. The corresponding differences are also found in the I, J, K grid in identical manner as shown in Case01.

The considered mesh contains 7661 elements and 9016 nodes and may be visualised by loading the file Geol_002b_Case02_abaq_mesh.xmf in ParaView. Note that in such mesh the Facies distribution cannot be visualised as
