The forward simulation generated data files are described here. Note that the simulation may be run as generated without requiring any edits.
Generated Rest_002_Step3 data file
The generated data for the forward model datafile which is located in Rest_002\Step3\Case01\Data is described here. This encompasses:
Initial and initialisation data:
1Geometry_data to read the .geo file. 2Geometry_set data for the boundaries and the fault. 3Stratigraphy data for the initial formation (Stratigraphy_definition and Stratigraphy_horizon) as well as the Stratigraphy_surface_load defining the stress boundary condition applied to the top surface. 4Group data for the initial formation (Group_control_data and Group_data data structures) which is assigned material "Shale_CF75". Note that the material file is read via an Include data structure. 5 Fault_set data identifying the fault and the insertion type. 6Mesh control (Mesh_control) and Unstructured mesh generation data (Unstructured_mesh_data) defining a constant mesh size of 150 m. 7Contact data (Contact_set, Contact_property and Contact_global) for the fault as defined in the Rest_002_Step2.dat data file. 8Geostatic_data for the initial and deposited formations as defined in the Rest_002_Step2.dat data file. 9Adaptivity data (Adaptivity_control_data and Adaptivity_set_data) as defined in the Rest_002_Step2.dat data file. 10Damping_global_data structure with Bulk and percentage damping models. 11Gravity_data. 12A Material_grid_set which generates a material grid that will be output for visualisation of the deformation. 13Geostatic_control_data for the two geostatic stages (elastic followed by standard).
Data defined at each stage:
1Part geometry data (Part_geometry_set, Part_line, Part_nodal_data and Part_nodal_update) defined within the "Rest_002_Step3_Case01_formationX.dat" files which are read via Include. These data describes the topology of the fault derived from restoration at each stage as well as the boundary kinematics. 2Prescribed_boundary_data for the side and basal boundaries as well as Basal_displacement in each stage. 3Sedimentation_data for each deposition stage. The Sedimentation_horizon for each formation is defined within each of the "Rest_002_Step3_Case01_formationX.sed" files which are read via Include. 4Fault_insertion data at each deposition stage to propagate the fault into the newly deposited formations. 5Control_data for each stage.
The data relevant to the boundary conditions and fault propagation is described below in more detail.
